An endoscopic facelift is a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedure. It allows an individual to achieve tighter, younger-looking facial features without the scarring of the traditional facelift.

With aging, the effects of sun exposure and gravity take a toll on our skin resulting in facial sagging, jowls formation, and deep wrinkles. The facelift is among the most popular cosmetic procedures for turning back the hands of time on the facial features to regain a younger, more rejuvenated appearance.

The endoscopic facelift technique is different from other facelift procedures as it incorporates the use of an endoscope. An endoscope is a long thin tube with a fiber-optic camera at the end which enables the Plastic Surgeon to accurately view hard-to-reach areas beneath the skin without having to make needless extensive incisions. With the endoscopic facelift, you can achieve most of the rejuvenating benefits of the traditional facelift such as tighter, youthful skin but with minimal scarring and less downtime compared to the traditional facelift. It is important to note that while the endoscopic facelift procedure removes extra fatty tissues and tightens sagging facial muscles, it does not remove excess skin like the traditional facelift.

The endoscopic facelift uses smaller incisions that are made above and behind the ear in the natural creases of the skin thereby lessening the appearance of incision lines and scars. This minimally invasive procedure targets the central third of the face and is effective in treating frown lines and facial folds near the mouth and nose.

A Good Candidate for Endoscopic Facelift

The ideal candidate for an Endoscopic facelift in Dubai is an individual who is in his/her 30s, 40s or 50s with mild skin sagging. The person should also be concerned about any of the following issues:

  • Marionette lines (lines that appear on the corners of your mouth and extend down to your chin)
  • Frown lines between the eyes
  • Sagging cheeks
  • Prominent nasolabial folds

The endoscopic facelift is, however, not recommended for individuals with more pronounced signs of aging as they would benefit from a more invasive procedure such as the traditional facelift.

Procedure

Before the endoscopic facelift procedure you will be asked to do the following:

  • Avoid smoking 4 weeks before and after the surgery
  • Do not take the blood-thinning medication 2 weeks prior
  • Do not drink alcohol two days prior to the treatment
  • Avoid drinking and eating 6 hours before the procedure

The endoscopic facelift is done under local anesthesia with sedation on an outpatient basis.

During the procedure, the Plastic Surgeon will make multiple incisions above and behind the ears as well as behind the hairline. The endoscope is inserted through the incisions for visualization before inserting tiny surgical instruments. The Plastic Surgeon then uses these instruments to tighten the facial muscles. After resetting the structures, the incisions are finally closed with sutures.

Recovery and Results

Immediately after the treatment, the face will be wrapped in a postoperative garment for a week. This helps with the swelling and bruising.

In the first fourteen days after the procedure, you'll be required to take antibiotics and pain relievers, limit jaw movement, and turn the head by moving the shoulders. By this time the swelling and bruising will have gone down.

Most individuals can resume work within two weeks, light activities within three weeks, and strenuous activities after 6 weeks.

The results are usually noticeable immediately after surgery but are obstructed by the swelling. The endoscopic facelift procedure will result in a tighter, more rejuvenated appearance of the facial features as well as a natural-looking lift. The results are long-lasting and can last for 5-10 years.
