Alipay and Mastercard offer international travellers a new payment option

With the resumption of travel and tourism to China in full swing, Mastercard and Alipay, China's leading digital open platform under Ant Group, today announced the launch of a new payment option that offers international travelers to China another simple and secure way to go cashless while visiting the country. To get more news about 海外华人充值, you can visit xiao-haijing.com official website.

Expanding on a partnership established in 2019 to provide enhanced digital payment solutions for both consumers and merchants, the new service from Alipay and Mastercard offers international visitors to China another safe and convenient way to pay like a local when travelling in mainland China, regardless of where in the world their Mastercard card was issued. Cardholders simply link their existing Mastercard credit or debit card to the Alipay digital wallet - and that's it! There's no need to set up or fund a prepaid account. (Download the wallet here.)

With the ability to make cashless payments via mobile devices at tens of millions of Alipay acceptance points across the country, where QR codes are the most popular form of payment, Mastercard cardholders from around the world will be able to transact in China as easily and conveniently as the locals.

According to the Mastercard Economics Institute's fourth annual travel report, Travel Industry Trends 2023, the global sector is recovering, with leisure travel bookings in March 2023 up around 31 per cent compared to the same period in 2019, driven by high-income consumers. Popular destinations, including mainland China, are expected to actively benefit from this trend.

"We are committed to enabling more consumers and SMEs to enjoy the benefits of inclusive digital payment services," said Venetia Lee, General Manager of Ant Group Greater China International Business. "The new service offered by Alipay and Mastercard will not only provide international travellers with a better experience when visiting China, but will also create more business opportunities for merchants on Alipay's open platform as global travel is set to grow rapidly."

For merchants, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the Alipay-Mastercard partnership will provide more opportunities to transact with international visitors, who will now have access to the most widely accepted payment method in China, allowing them to move around easily and without hassle.
Thanks to Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS), overseas card transactions made in the Alipay digital wallet will be processed through Mastercard's omnichannel payments platform, which enables merchants - large and small - to easily accept payments from anywhere in the world, helping businesses grow and consumers transact safely and securely at home and abroad.

"This next step in our partnership with Ant Group exemplifies Mastercard's long-term commitment to the Chinese market and the company's ongoing global efforts to drive economies and empower people," said Dennis Chang, Executive Vice President and Division President, Greater China, Mastercard. "As travel and tourism rebounds, Mastercard is pleased to partner with Alipay to provide cardholders around the world with the ultimate in payment security, convenience and peace of mind as they work, play, rest and roam in China."
